Essentially, a producer named Kevin McClory was determined, even as long ago because the 1950's to manufacture a film that no-one saw before; a deluxe epic that would showcase the lush appeal of the Bahamas and offer thrilling underwater action photography. Ian Fleming's literary coming of 007 seemed tailor made for any idea so the two joined forces to craft the 1st Bond film screenplay, 'Thunderball'. As soon as the film seemed to be struggle to get off the bottom, Fleming rather foolishly took the finished screenplay and turned it into his next Bond novel without having the permission or consent of McClory, creating an array of legal battles which dogged the fate with the character on the watch's screen for an additional 4 decades because producers on the official Bond film series persistently fought off McClory's tries to create not only a rival Bond film but the whole series likewise.
