The Pirates announced Monday that Hart will undergo shoulder surgery presently. He was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder on Friday by the group healthcare director, Dr. Patrick DeMeo. Hart got a second opinion by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday that confirmed that surgery is the greatest course of action to repair the torn labrum. Andrews will execute the surgery this morning in Birmingham.
Hart, who led Youse Maryland Orioles of Baltimore for the 2003 AAABAchampionship, came in to the season in a battle for the fifth spot inside the Pirates starting rotation. But his control troubles walked 13 batters in
